I’ve always loved a beautiful patina (especially on planters) but the price, well that’s another story… Until I discovered Metal Effects by Modern Masters.
This easy, 3 step process will cost you less than $20 and you don’t have to be a professional to master it! AND the biggest plus, everything you need comes in the kit.
Just like every project, you want to make sure your piece is clean and free of any loose paint. I simply used soap and water on this planter and let it dry.
Next, you are going to use the stir stick provided and mix the primer well. Apply one coat of primer with the chip brush and allow to dry. Wait approximately 30 mins and apply 2nd coat.
After letting the primer cure for at least 12 hours (I never wait that long, btw) Apply your first coat of copper paint. Let it dry for 30 mins, then apply 2nd coat. IMMEDIATELY spray the aging solution to the paint while wet!!
It’s important to remember not to drench your project with the solution because it will pool at the bottom (& we all know that isn’t pretty)
Within seconds you will start to notice the patina starting to form. After about 30-40 mins, your project is C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E!!!
Annnnd, the best part… NO sealant required!!!
This is a great project for anything & everything metal, wood, masonry and even pre-painted pieces!
Go over to Modern Masters.com, buy the kit, patina all your junk and SEND ME YOUR PICTURES!!
